Former Sheffield United standout footballer, Brian Deane, stopped by the joint St. Kitts and Nevis booth at World Travel Market on Wednesday, 12 November, 2008, which created quite a buzz among attendees at the huge travel and tourism exposition.
Deane, who is of Nevisian heritage, was invited to spend the day with the delegation by Garcia Thompson-Hendrickson, CEO of the Nevis Tourism Authority who noted,
"We are honoured to welcome Brian Deane as a part of our team at World Travel Market. His Nevisian background and sincere interest in helping to promote the destination will surely be an asset."
During his illustrious career, Deane also played for Leeds United, Leicester City, West Ham United and Perth Glory in the Australian A-League. He retired from Sheffield United at the beginning of the 2006–2007 season. He is the only player Sheffield United has signed three times.
